On October 29th 2018, 18:04 UTC, the Parker Solar Probe became the closest artifial object ever to the sun. After multiple approaches, December 14th marked the day that the probe ‘touched’ the sun for the first time. It dipped in and out of the corona and will assess the structure and dynamics of the Sun’s magnetic field.
